West Virginia Chapter Meeting: September 18, 2025 -- SHM State Conference
Description
This program is designed to introduce and update clinical topics pertaining to practice of adult and pediatric hospital medicine. It will also serve as our chapter abstract competition and provide networking opportunity to SHM members.
Learning Objectives
Attendees will be able to:
- Identify and apply newest guideline directed medical therapy for patients with Heart Failure and reduced Ejection Fraction
- Identify cause of and implement appropriate treatment for pediatric Syncope
- Become more familiar with appropriate clinical utilization of procalcitonin in the inpatient setting.
- Apply the newest guidelines on appropriate management and duration of antibiotics for pediatric infections routinely encountered in the hospital environment.
- Appropriately identify when a GI consult is indicated on an inpatient anemic patient.
- Familiarize themselves with what physician advisory councils can do to improve day-to-day work flow for hospitalists and improve revenue capture for hospitals
- Become more familiar with the most recent guideline updates for inpatient management of COPD.
- Become more familiar with the most recent guideline updates for inpatient management of pediatric asthma.
- Become more familiar with recognizing and managing inpatient delirium using the most recent recommendations.
- Become more familiar with new guidelines regarding management of neonatal jaundice.
