2021 Critical Care – What Every Hospitalist Needs to Know

In this Advanced Learning Course, the participant will learn how to evaluate and manage a wide variety of critical care issues that a hospitalist may encounter in their practice. The interactive sessions will feature multiple-choice questions during the presentations and question and answer periods after each one. In addition, we will be utilizing a mechanical ventilator simulator and a high-fidelity human patient simulator to enhance the learning experience for some of the sessions.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this educational activity, participants will be better able to:

  1. Discuss the role of point of care ultrasound for assessing critically ill patients.
  2. Explain what mechanical ventilatory settings are appropriate for various critically ill patients.
  3. Demonstrate how to approach stabilization of critically ill patients in respiratory distress.
