Hampton Roads Chapter Meeting: August 12, 2025 -- Recognizing and Responding to Human Trafficking in Healthcare: A Trauma-Informed Approach for Hospitalists
Topic
Recognizing and Responding to Human Trafficking in Healthcare: A Trauma-Informed Approach for Hospitalists
Description
Hospitalists are on the front lines of care and uniquely positioned to recognize signs of human trafficking. Join us for a dynamic and practical discussion designed to empower clinicians with the tools to identify, support, and advocate for patients who may be victims of trafficking and violence.
In this session, participants will learn from the experts how to recognize the various forms of human trafficking, identify at-risk populations, and spot red flags during clinical encounters. The presentation will also cover key statistics related to domestic violence, intimate partner violence, and sexual assault, while introducing the core principles of trauma-informed care. Attendees will leave with a practical and personalized response plan for effectively and compassionately supporting patients.
